Elim have had a presence in Jersey since 1953 and in the British
Channel Islands since the 1930s. Oasis began its life back in April 1993
as a church plant from Jersey’s only Elim church - which itself was a
plant from Vazon Church in Guernsey.
The church was started with a congregation of 12 and was led by David
and Shirley MacFeeters who have pastored the church until the present
day. From its birth until May 2009 Oasis met at the Le Squez Youth
Centre in St Clements, but as the building was is use during the week
the church was only able to make use of the facilities on a Sunday
morning.
In December 2007 the church signed a lease on a new community
centre just down the road in St Saviour. The centre was originally
planned as a parish-run community centre but had been left in a half-
built state due to a lack of finance. Oasis took on the building with the
intention of running it as a church/community centre - meeting both
the spiritual and practical needs of the surrounding community, which
was finally completed in the spring of 2009.
